Messaging

Surflink has one messaging channel: a direct conversation between a coach and an athlete, on the web and the iPhone. Either side can start it.

Message an athlete

1. Open Messages (/messages; athletes use /athlete/messages).
2. The left pane lists your conversations; the right pane is the open thread.
3. New Message → pick an athlete.
4. Type and send — Enter sends, Shift+Enter adds a line. Attach a photo from the composer; images upload to a private bucket and are shown through signed URLs.

Messages arrive live. A single tick means sent; a double mint tick means the other person has opened the thread since. Unread counts show on the navigation and update in real time. If a connection drops, the open thread catches up on anything it missed when it reconnects.

You can block a conversation (it stops new messages from that person) and report a message; reports go to the admin console's message-reports queue.

An athlete can only receive messages once they have accepted an invite and have a login — see Roster, Invites & Guardians.
